2012 Tours to Watch Out For !!!

January 1, 2012 – Happy New Year everyone !! I’m sure you’re tired of reading the 2011 recaps by now from everyone and anyone, so I thought I’d give you some of my thoughts on upcoming tours for 2012, both confirmed and some “hopefuls”.

Rush
Kinda goes without saying, but this is the one I’m most excited about. The highly anticipated release of the 19th studio album, Clockwork Angels, from our beloved Canadian power trio will surely be followed by a world tour at some point this year. As with the past few tours, new music will surely be front and centre in the set list, but I’m curious to find out if they plan to feature another classic full album from the past as they did on the recent Time Machine Tour.

Van Halen
Recently announced, Van Halen (of the Roth variety) will be releasing new music and touring to arena sized audiences. Will be interested to find out if time has been gentle to Diamond Dave and the brothers. I’ve always been more of a Sammy fan, but I can see this tour being as something of a farewell on a high note for Dave, Eddie, and Alex, but I could be wrong.

Umphrey’s McGee
Having missed them on their last Detroit visit, I’m looking forward to see this group live and hearing some tunes from their new album “Death by Stereo.”

The Black Keys
With some Grammy Awards in hand this year, the duo of Auerbach and Carney are set to play some biggie sized venues on their new tour, supported by none other than Arctic Monkeys.

Band of Skulls
New album coming in February, I’m hoping the British rockers tear up their first major North American tour and earn even more fans.

Roger Waters
On my bucket list !!! I have yet to experience this particular awesomeness, either as a photographer or fan, so one I’m definitely looking forward to.

The Cult
Nothing announced as far as a 2012 tour, but with new music expected to be released in the spring, I am hoping to catch these boys in Detroit again !!

The Parlor Mob
One of the most underrated bands, I feel, I’m hoping a tour announcement is imminent given their recent release.

The Tea Party
Might be too soon to say, but I’m hoping there is some news on both new music and a tour this year for this Canadian trio, who recently enjoyed a fantastic reunion tour.

Pitbull
I consider Pitbull to be the best part of seeing Enrique Iglesias this past year, and he was the opener !! This man has some swagger !! I can only believe he is destined for his own arena tour in 2012.
